Curry Ford West staple and community-favorite market Clemons Produce will close at the end of August after more than five decades in business. Clemons has been serving Orlando since 1970 (originally as an outdoor market!), providing all manner of fresh fruits and vegetables and an Amish deli with a wide variety of meats and cheeses. Orlando’s public transit system is, in the most literal sense, better than nothing — but you can’t say much more than that for it. Wouldn’t it be nice to have something actually good? The Orlando chapter of Sunrise Movement, a committed cadre of young people fighting for climate justice, affordable housing and better public transportation in Orlando, thinks we deserve it. Their STAR (Sunshine Transit Advancement Resolution) Plan calls for eight rapid-transit corridors with buses circulating every 15 minutes, and they have ideas for how to fund it.
